DPIRD support and develop NSW’s primary industries and regional economies. Their work supports the agriculture, forestry, fishing and mining industries, regional businesses and the management of our natural assets.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development works towards the twin objectives of growing primary industries and supporting regional economic development to deliver long term benefits to regional communities.

- drive regional investment and economic development
- oversee productive and sustainable land use and natural resources
- deliver regional infrastructure and grant programs
- help strengthen social cohesion.
Home to about 40 per cent of the state’s population, regional NSW includes coastal, inland, rural, remote and metro regional areas.
