Coming soon: Major defence industry event for Illawarra companies to hear from and pitch to important decision makers.
The Illawarra Innovative Industry Network (i3net) is focusing attention on Defence Industry procurement opportunities for local manufacturers and engineering firms on Friday March 11.
i3net, the Illawarra Innovative Industry Network, is a network of industry-based companies working from the Illawarra. From bolts to blast furnaces, from 3D printing to submarines, i3net provides access to the Illawarra’s vast range of manufacturers, engineering service providers and industrial suppliers. Their 80+ members represent some of the largest companies in Australia & all the way through to SMEs and supply organisations, with over 20,000 employees. Founded 20 years ago, i3net was established to promote the collective capacity and capability of the members, engage partner organisations, and ensure successful growth for our local businesses and our regional area.
The network regularly runs well attended events where real business opportunities are shared. And the upcoming Industry Breakfast is no exception.
This particular event is focused on Defence Industry procurement opportunities.
The morning event has already secured an impressive list of delegates from companies such as Northrop Grumman Australia, Ventia Defence, Downer Defence, DMTC, Bisalloy, Schiebel Pacific plus more. There will be well over 100 people in attendance.
i3net CEO Bianca Perry says “We will have a wide variety of speakers, all presenting as part of panels to provide industry with a wide range of valuable information in a short space of time. So, whether you are considering working in this space or are already an approved supplier, this event will have content and contacts for you. There will also be plenty of networking time, allowing attendees to reconnect with their colleagues and make new contacts as well.”

The program includes:
- Defence primes taking the stage to provide the audience with information regarding their supply chain needs, an update of their opportunities for local industry, any technical problems they are facing that local industry could help with and how local industry can be considered for opportunities and the best contacts (direct) for more information and support.
- Senior managers from local companies will then join a panel to share their defence journey, lessons learned and advice for the room. They will be discussing themes such as time taken to crack the market, schedule risk, compliance challenges, finding opportunities and partnerships, support that they have valued.
- Senior Government representatives will also provide an update on opportunities, information on the latest support available, and the best contacts (direct) for more information and support.
- The event will be closed by Senator the Honourable Concetta Fierravanti-Wells.
The event is supported by ADROITA, SDIG on behalf of the NSW Government, Assett Professional Services and BPS Defence.
