2019

Dear valued members, corporate partners and stakeholders,

On behalf of the i3net Board and our Executive Officer, thank you for your support this year.

In this message we will summarise the year, say goodbye to a Board Member, announce the 2020 i3net Board and let you know about our Christmas break.

With Christmas nearly upon us, the Board would like to reflect on what a fantastic 12 months it has been for the network.

We started off the year hearing from South32 speaking about their upcoming 12 months.

We received a budget overview from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and also heard from Navantia Australia at this meeting.

In June, we held our first beer & pizza night, with a stellar line up of speakers which included NSW Ports, AIE, Spiecapag & the University of Wollongong.

An exclusive members-only breakfast was also held with BlueScope leading a Supplier Townhall Presentation.

In addition to these fantastic events, we also held training in the areas of winning major work & pitch training.

And then there was the Showcase. A sold-out dinner and breakfast event.

We also engaged with all levels of Government and stakeholders to promote the importance of industry in the Illawarra. One such instance was our vocal support for the Dendrobium Mine Extension.

We have sent our members over 12 exclusive “opportunity emails” this year. We’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes to uncover opportunities, make connections with new contacts and retain existing connections so we can continue to bring value to you, our members.

We welcomed new members and retained many of our long-term members and corporate partners. Because of you, the Illawarra truly is an innovative and talented region. We are grateful for your support and are proud to represent you and bring opportunities forward for you.

For those of you who attended the December Industry Breakfast & AGM, you will know that Robert Donsante will be leaving the Board this year.

Robert been part of the network for many years, he has held a Board Position since 2015 and in that time has taken on the role of Treasurer and Vice-Chairman. At one point- both roles at once!

We thank Robert for his dedication to the network, his expertise, friendship and sense of humour. He has contributed to the strength of the network and will be greatly missed. Thank you Robert for volunteering your time for Illawarra Industry.

And with 2019 nearly over, we are pleased to share the newly elected 2020 i3net Board with you.

Emilio Salucci (Chairman), Jim Allan (new in 2020), David Bridge (Vice-Chairman), Zahra Shahbazian, Dan Henricson, Yvonne Walker, David Apolo (Treasurer), Bianca Perry, John Zagame & Mark Grimson.

The new board has met briefly to confirm roles for 2020, and are motivated to make the next 12 months another strong year for the network.

On behalf of the i3net Board, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a fun and safe New Year.

i3net will be closing over the Chrismas break, from 20th Dec to 7th Jan.

We look forward to serving you in 2020.

A 2018 message from i3net Chairman, Mr Emilio Salucci.

Dear valued members, corporate partners and stakeholders,

What a fantastic 12 months it has been for the network.

We started off the year hearing from the University of Wollongong speaking about their capital development works.

We had an industry 4.0 workshop in March, and later heard from BlueScope.
Our Corporate Partners, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia gave an excellent budget presentation.

We partnered with groups to hold events, and also heard from Darren Vine of Komatsu, talking about their need for more suppliers.

And then there was the Showcase. What a fantastic event! We heard from AIE and Snowy Hydro, and also had the opportunity to network with some fantastic delegates.

In December we held our AGM and heard excellent presentations from the Prysmian Group, Access Law Group and received an update on AIE as well.

One thing I know for sure is that you can’t achieve what i3net has during the last 12 months without an incredible team, and I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks to the i3net board.

It is my pleasure to lead a board that volunteers so much of their time and are passionate about our industry and the network. I would like to thank them for their efforts during the last 12 months. Robert Donsante – Klondu, Brendon Cohen – Chromax Hard Chrome, John Zagame – R.Stahl Australia, Yvonne Walker – HR with Ease, David Bridge – Bridge Project Solutions and Mark Grimson – Wollongong City Council.

I also want to say thank you to our members and corporate partners. Because of you, the Illawarra truly is an innovative and talented region.

As mentioned at the AGM, Brendon Cohen has served his full term on the Board. I would like to personally thank Brendon for his contribution.

I had also served my full-term on the board. However, as per the i3net constitution, there was a possibility of being invited to return to the Board if there were vacancies. I am pleased to report that I was given this invitation after the AGM by the Board. Proudly, I was offered the opportunity to again lead the network as Chairman. This is an honour for me. And I thank the Board and the network for the continued support and confidence in my leadership.

For the remaining vacancies, the Board has now received a number of interests, and is carefully assessing these interests to potential Board roles. As such, the 2019 i3net Board will be announced in early 2019.

As mentioned at last weeks industry breakfast, the board is committed to our network, and already they are planning events for next year. We have confirmed South32 will be speaking at our first industry breakfast next year, on Friday 22nd February. Please mark that in your diaries.

Thank you again for your support this year, and I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are looking forward to an industrious and positive 2019.
